May you Live in Interesting Times

May you live in interesting times

May you live in interesting times (Watercolor)

Assignment for Illustration 2 (Concept + Metaphors). Create an illustration for one of the phrases on the paper and incorporate the type (phrase) into the image.

My phrase was “May you live in interesting times”. After figuring out what that meant I started thinking about Marie Antoinette and the whole “Let them eat cake” thing (I know she really didn’t say it). Carrie (my teacher) thought I should watercolor, but I like the line drawing for it better.

I might do a “print roll-up” of the image later.

This is delightfully frightening. Great juxtaposition : ).

I think the watercolor was a good choice, too.

I might do 2 more options for this illustration. A silk-screen 1 and something called a "print roll-up" that Allison is going to teach me how to do.
